Piaget has declared 2017 as the year of Piaget Altiplano Replica
It was 1957 when Piaget revolutionized the watchmaking world when it launched its now-iconic timepiece, Piaget Altiplano. Today, we’re just a few days away to 2017, which also means, we’re thisclose to Piaget Altiplano‘s 60th anniversary.
To commemorate the occasion, Piaget has unveiled two limited-edition Piaget Altiplano watches: The 43mm fake Piaget Altiplano Self-Winding and 38mm fake Piaget Altiplano Manual-Winding. Both timepieces are the first two of many that will be launched by Piaget throughout the year.
What makes Piaget Altiplano so special, anyway? It all started when Valentin Piaget presented his ultra-thin 9P manual-winding movement in Basel back in 1957 and continued three years later when the founder’s grandson invented the ultra-thin 12P self-winding movement. These movements are the very thing that have given Piaget Altiplano its reputation as the ultra-thin watch.
Piaget Altiplano has been reinterpreted a couple of times throughout the years. The aforementioned 43mm Piaget Altiplano Self-Winding, for instance, is equipped with Calibre 1200P movement that is only 2.35mm thick, which was first developed in 2010. The 38mm Piaget Altiplano Manual-Winding, meanwhile, is completed with 2.1mm Calibre 430P movement.
Both newest world’s thinnest mechanical watches are adorned with 18K white gold ultra-thin case with a blue dial, cross in the center, white gold appliques index and blue alligator leather strap. There will only be 460 and 360 pieces available for the 38mm and 43mm versions respectively.
